I need to know the difference between video cameras?

I have no idea about how to go about finding a good camera. I will be producing a film shortly and all that lacks is a camera. I will have a camera man to run it but he does not have a camera. (He only used the one from school.) Maybe more than one camera. I need to know the best camera. The best of everything. I'm being graded. Not on the camera but clarity and stuff. This is a full length movie by the way. A make, model, type, and everything.

talk with your camera man. since he has used a school camera before, he may know what is best for your situation.. All video camera's get clear footage, but it's the camera man's job to be sure that the stuff recorded is good. The key to a good video is both in the production and post production. look at videouniversity.com... very informative...

Using NTSC Tape on a PAL Camera?

Can I Use a NTSC Cassette on a PAL Video camera?

It will not be able to play, any of the video on it, recorded by the NTSC camera.

But you can record over it. Its just a tape. Tapes are the same, and doen not change because of the video format you record onto it, once its recorded over you would never know the diference

Have a good day.

Looking to buy a computer system for video editing?

I want to be able to edit high definition digital video. I've been looking around for a computer system that would work the best for accomplishing this. Anyone have suggestions??

It needs to also be able to play some games, nothing crazy like hardcore gamers require.

I was looking at the Gateway LX or FX series.

Any thoughts? Can anyone help me?

You did not tell us the source of the high definition video. If you are editing high definition video - HDV or AVCHD - MovieMaker cannot deal with these formats directly.

Most computers made in the last 2 years should be fine (perhaps even older - but that will depend on your patience during rendering). You will need a minimum of 2 gig RAM - more is better. You will likely need a minimum of a 500 gig drive that is used ONLY for the video data project files. Do not use the hard drive that has the system start-up on it. Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier generally float to the top for Windows.

If you are using a miniDV tape based camcorder and capturing HDV, you will connect the camcorder's DV port to the computer's firewire port. Be sure the computer has a Firewire port since you are getting the computer. Firewire, IEEE1394 and i.LINK are all the same thing. If you don't re-use the tapes and just lock then, the tape is the archive.

If you are using a flash memory or hard disc drive (HDD) based camcorder, the AVCHD files are very highly compressed - and while you will use USB to copy the files, the next step is to decompress them (usually done by the vuideo editor when the clip is imported). Then you have extra steps for making backups and archive files, so the percieved time savings essentially goes away.

You also did not go into how you are expecting to playback the high definition video... With miniDV tape, just export the finished project back to the camcorder - then use the camcorder as a playback deck connected to a HDTV. I don't think you have this option with flash memory or HDD camcorders. All other playback options (export to computer-readable high definition video file, export/render standard definition to regular DVD blank, export high definiton to regular or BluRay blank DVD for playback in BluRay player or PS3) are available.

I've been using my iMac for almost a year now and love it! Video editing is a breeze. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't go back to a pc. Try checking out a Mac and talk to some people who use them and see what you think.

Windows Movie Maker is easy and worth going back to a PC. You can do TONS of cool things with it...

Do your videos come out stable when you record on your camara?

like when you record a video, do your videos come out stable and not shaky?

or do they come out a little bit shaky in some parts?

-I was born Nov.12 1989

They are "a little bit shaky in some parts" when I hold the camcorder in my hands and capture video.

They are not "a little bit shaky in some parts" when I have the camcorder mounted on a tripod or camera crane or shoulder-mount device or a GlideCam/SteadiCam device - or some other stabilization equipment or device - and capture video.

Not if I use a tri-pod.

I need help finding a good HD camcorder that isn

I was going to use it for home videos. Maybe make my own little videos/ short movies and use it to make reviews for my youtube channel.

For YouTube, Flip MinoHD, Kodak Zi6 HD, and Sony Webbie line of camcorders r perfect.

I recommend you check the Aiptek GVS, a perfect value with decent video/audio quality.

If you want some more advanced and yet relatively cheap camcorder ($600), you should check Sony Handycam HDR-CX100

Whats wrong with my camera?

I just wanted to upload some photos but my retarded camera decided to screw up. Whenever I connect my USB to my computer it say the device as malfunctioned. I don't know what to do. Please help.

Reboot your PC.

Use a card reader.

How old is the camera and how old is the computer?

Its vista thats retarded, I hate it! vista really SUCKS!!!

What is a good digital camcorder that has motion detection and nightvision, any suggestions?

I'm interested in recording myself sleep, to find out how often I wake up and why. I sleep terribly and wake up every time my fiance moves.

almost all sony video cameras have nightshot and will record 2 hours or so.

motion detection will cost you as much as $200 and up, google for a trail camera set up

How to convert mini DV file in to AVCHD? Have Canon HV10 HD mivi DV Camcorder.?

Can I transfer mini DV video to AVCHD camcorder (DVD recordable or Hard Drive recordable), if yes, how?

Probably not.

What do you mean by "Hard Drive recordable"?

In order for a high definition hard disc drive, flash memory or DVD based camcorder to deal with that file, you need a video editing or converter application that can output to M2TS or MTS files. I am not aware of any - that does not mean they do not exist, it just means I am not aware of any.

Since there are no consumer AVCHD camcorders that have a DV port, there is no way to directly dub (using a firewire cable) from the HDV camcorder's DV port into the AVCHD camcorder. USB won't work - first, because the AVCHD camcorder won't take information IN over USB and second, because the HDV camcorder won't send HDV over USB.

If you got the HDV video into the computer, you could try saving that as an h.264/AVCHD file format - I know iMovieHD and FinalCut can do that - but I don't think that will be in a file format the camcorder can use. I did read the the newer version of some Sony software bundled with their HDD camcorders allows exporting video back out to the HDD camcorder but I don't know what AVCHD camcorders you are working with.

I really want a professional camcorder?

I really want a professional camcorder, like the kind they use in movies. But, I don't have enough money to get one, do you know any cheap ones, or have any ideas? thanks :)

If you REALLY want a professional camcorder, then you will be looking for:

Lens diameter larger than 40mm-43mm

XLR audio-in connections

After you meet these two criteria, everything else is in the camcorder including larger imaging chips, manual audio control and lots of other manual controls that are easy to get to on the outside of the camcorder will follow.

Many movie studios continue to capture to film (CineAlta, Panavision, Arris, Varicam - among others), so you probably don't want those.

The digital camcorders used are commonly the Red One or the Silicon Imaging (SI) line. If you know you don't have enough money to get one, it is likely your computer is not fast enough to handle the digital video editing requirements these ultra-high definiton cameras capture.

Then there's a range of camcorders the pros use - from the Sony professional series, the JVC GY series, the Panasonic pro-grade cams and the Canon professional series. They start at around $2,000 and go up from there.

Video is only a part of the equation - audio plays a large part, too. The least expensive camcorders with a mic jack (1/8" - 3.5mm stereo) are the Canon HV30 and Sony HDR-HC9. Do these fit your budget?

you can probably get a real nice Betacam setup on eBay for under $1000. Unlike consumer cameras, pro camcorders are not intended to be used for playback, so you will need a player to match. And accessories can be quite pricey, batteries for example can run $200 - $500 each.

How to put different type of recording together?

what can I download to put different clips together to make a short video

Depending what the clips are you should be able to use Windows Movie Maker.

Is my camcorder broken?

ok so i have a Insignia - 5.0MP High-Definition Digital Camcorder with 3" Swivel LCD Screen and i lost mi changer and in a couple hours it ran out of power. i found the charger 2 months later and started charging my camcorder. i know it was changing because the red light was on. anyway it was changing for over a day and still it won't turn on. i got no idea what's wrong or maybe what i'm doing wrong.

any suggestions? (other than buying a new camcorder)

what has happend is the battery has gone bad cuz it has not been used for so long sounds werid but it can happen so take it to best buy and see if they can put a new battery in it for you if not then your out the money you payed for the camcorder sorry

I dont know about insignias, but most electronic devices when charging can be turned on an opperational. Can your do this? If not it may be a busted or have a bad battery?

JVC Video Camcorder doesnt work?

i have a JVC Video Camcorder, and when i charge it, it works fine, but when i unplug it, it stops working.

do i need a new battery for it?

Yes, lots of places sell replacement batteries.

Copying a disc made from camcorder?

I just bought a new Sony Handycam. It uses discs instead of tapes. I just made a video and finalized it on a -R disc. Is there any way to copy it to the computer to make copies? I can't seem to view it on my computer at all and I've been trying everything.

Try downloading a trial of Ulead DVD Movie Factory and that should help you import and make your DVD's.

Remember its a trial if you find it useful then buy it you can uninstall it otherwise.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Question about charging the battery on my camara ?

if i charge the battery on my camara every day after i use it, is it good for the batterry or bad for it?

should i charge the battery only when my camara asks for it?

or should i charge it every once in a while even though my camara does not ask for it ?

you should go full cycle on a battery once in a while

full charge to completely dead

and its spelled camera!

You should charge your battery until it drains out or when you need the extra charge in my opinion. Its like if you work out everyday you will get tired and worn out the same way works with a battery the more you charge it the less it will last.

I like to let mine run down and if I need it the next day and it's down then I put it on the charger.

Sony HC65 Manual zoom lens?

I just got a sony handycam (DCR-HC65) and i wanted to know if i can get a manual zoom lens for it. The zoom the camera has built in isnt fast enough. I want to be able to zoom in fast not slowly with the motorized zoo.

no such manual zoom.

if you zoom in very quickly when filming a video, your video will look like crap. the autofocus wont be able to keep up with quick zooming and it will be delayed, rendering the video out of focus for a second or two

Which camcorder is best overall?

This is my list for all of the Prosumer cameras I'm considering.

Please, if you can, tell me which is the best of all these.

I would say the DVX100b or the Canon XL1.

But you know for a couple hundred more you can buy a Panasonic HMC150. A HD prosumer camcorder that is good in low light, is light, and records HD in 60/30/ and 24 native fps to SD cards.

Nice list but you buy the one you can afford and the one that funtions best for what you are going to shoot. I recommend you do a deep research on all of them by going to youtube.com or reading reviews and that will give you a more concrete answer.
