I have no idea about how to go about finding a good camera. I will be producing a film shortly and all that lacks is a camera. I will have a camera man to run it but he does not have a camera. talk with your camera man. since he has used a school camera before, he may know what is best for your situation.. All video camera's get clear footage, but it's the camera man's job to be sure that the stuff recorded is good. Using NTSC Tape on a PAL Camera?

But you can record over it. Its just a tape. Tapes are the same, and doen not change because of the video format you record onto it, once its recorded over you would never know the diference

Looking to buy a computer system for video editing?

I want to be able to edit high definition digital video. I've been looking around for a computer system that would work the best for accomplishing this. Anyone have suggestions??


It needs to also be able to play some games, nothing crazy like hardcore gamers require.

Any thoughts? Can anyone help me?



You did not tell us the source of the high definition video. If you are editing high definition video - HDV or AVCHD - MovieMaker cannot deal with these formats directly.





Most computers made in the last 2 years should be fine (perhaps even older - but that will depend on your patience during rendering). You will need a minimum of 2 gig RAM - more is better. You will likely need a minimum of a 500 gig drive that is used ONLY for the video data project files. Do not use the hard drive that has the system start-up on it. Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier generally float to the top for Windows.





If you are using a miniDV tape based camcorder and capturing HDV, you will connect the camcorder's DV port to the computer's firewire port. Be sure the computer has a Firewire port since you are getting the computer. Firewire, IEEE1394 and i.LINK are all the same thing. If you don't re-use the tapes and just lock then, the tape is the archive.





If you are using a flash memory or hard disc drive (HDD) based camcorder, the AVCHD files are very highly compressed - and while you will use USB to copy the files, the next step is to decompress them (usually done by the vuideo editor when the clip is imported). Then you have extra steps for making backups and archive files, so the percieved time savings essentially goes away.





You also did not go into how you are expecting to playback the high definition video... With miniDV tape, just export the finished project back to the camcorder - then use the camcorder as a playback deck connected to a HDTV. I don't think you have this option with flash memory or HDD camcorders. All other playback options (export to computer-readable high definition video file, export/render standard definition to regular DVD blank, export high definiton to regular or BluRay blank DVD for playback in BluRay player or PS3) are available.




I've been using my iMac for almost a year now and love it! Video editing is a breeze. Just my opinion, but I wouldn't go back to a pc. Try checking out a Mac and talk to some people who use them and see what you think.

Probably not.





What do you mean by "Hard Drive recordable"?





In order for a high definition hard disc drive, flash memory or DVD based camcorder to deal with that file, you need a video editing or converter application that can output to M2TS or MTS files. I am not aware of any - that does not mean they do not exist, it just means I am not aware of any.





Since there are no consumer AVCHD camcorders that have a DV port, there is no way to directly dub (using a firewire cable) from the HDV camcorder's DV port into the AVCHD camcorder. USB won't work - first, because the AVCHD camcorder won't take information IN over USB and second, because the HDV camcorder won't send HDV over USB.





If you got the HDV video into the computer, you could try saving that as an h.264/AVCHD file format - I know iMovieHD and FinalCut can do that - but I don't think that will be in a file format the camcorder can use. I did read the the newer version of some Sony software bundled with their HDD camcorders allows exporting video back out to the HDD camcorder but I don't know what AVCHD camcorders you are working with.

If you REALLY want a professional camcorder, then you will be looking for:

XLR audio-in connections





After you meet these two criteria, everything else is in the camcorder including larger imaging chips, manual audio control and lots of other manual controls that are easy to get to on the outside of the camcorder will follow.





Many movie studios continue to capture to film (CineAlta, Panavision, Arris, Varicam - among others), so you probably don't want those.





The digital camcorders used are commonly the Red One or the Silicon Imaging (SI) line. If you know you don't have enough money to get one, it is likely your computer is not fast enough to handle the digital video editing requirements these ultra-high definiton cameras capture.





Then there's a range of camcorders the pros use - from the Sony professional series, the JVC GY series, the Panasonic pro-grade cams and the Canon professional series. They start at around $2,000 and go up from there.

you can probably get a real nice Betacam setup on eBay for under $1000. Unlike consumer cameras, pro camcorders are not intended to be used for playback, so you will need a player to match. And accessories can be quite pricey, batteries for example can run $200 - $500 each.

Copying a disc made from camcorder?

I just bought a new Sony Handycam. It uses discs instead of tapes. I just made a video and finalized it on a -R disc. Is there any way to copy it to the computer to make copies? I can't seem to view it on my computer at all and I've been trying everything.



Try downloading a trial of Ulead DVD Movie Factory and that should help you import and make your DVD's.


Remember its a trial if you find it useful then buy it you can uninstall it otherwise.

You should charge your battery until it drains out or when you need the extra charge in my opinion. Its like if you work out everyday you will get tired and worn out the same way works with a battery the more you charge it the less it will last.

Sony HC65 Manual zoom lens?

I just got a sony handycam (DCR-HC65) and i wanted to know if i can get a manual zoom lens for it. The zoom the camera has built in isnt fast enough. I want to be able to zoom in fast not slowly with the motorized zoo.

if you zoom in very quickly when filming a video, your video will look like crap. the autofocus wont be able to keep up with quick zooming and it will be delayed, rendering the video out of focus for a second or two

But you know for a couple hundred more you can buy a Panasonic HMC150. A HD prosumer camcorder that is good in low light, is light, and records HD in 60/30/ and 24 native fps to SD cards.

Mysterious cell phone activity?

I have been going to bed late recently and I noticed that my cell phone lights up at the same time every night at 2:14 am! In addition, i caught that there was some activity on the screen going on last night but before i got a closer look the light went out, and tonight I caught it in the middle of its thing, and it was receiving something... then it just disconnected and the light went out like nothing happened. I have no record of any activity in the log. Something really strange is happening. Anyone experiance anything similar???



Do you have Verizon? If so you may have a program called Backup Assistant that nightly updates all your contacts on your phone. Mine does it at 12:44 every night.




Put your phone under your pillow. Or it could be a cell phone ghost a new phenomenon not know about yet. Or when your cell phone is charging maybe your charger has a short and the power goes off and on....make a journal and then go to your cell phone provider and tell them what has been happening. That is spooky!




Could very possibly be the alarm clock. That's what comes to mind when you said that it does it every night at the same time. You may have inadvertently set it.

The only good thing about Dish TV is, it is the first DTH which came to customers.





All the other things are bad, quality of picture, customer service, billing and renewal system etc.. If you dont want to fall in trouble and strain, then go for some other DTH service...Tata sky or Airtel TV. Airtel DTH is reasonable and also the customer service is good..

Do you feel the new update has finally solved the storage issue?

Personally I thinks the best update yet.



For now, this update is great for all, who have storage problems.





But Nintendo implemented it in a not very forward looking way.





With this update, programs loaded from the SD card are first copied into the NAND memory of the Wii and then executed. After this, the copy is then deleted again.





The problem with this is: Flash based memory (like the NAND memory of the Wii) is %26quot;degrading%26quot; with each read/write process.





Of course, each flash storage media (like SD cards, Solid State Discs and the Wii%26#039;s NAND) have a mechanism, that tries to distribute write-operations to different memory areas.





But sooner or later, the Flash memory will fail.





So I see this update as a quick and dirty fix instead of a true solution of storage space.




It has certainly helped, yes. The use of the 32GB SD Cards will be excellent. However, I don%26#039;t think it has actually %26#039;solved%26#039; the problem as there will always be more problems in the future.





For the time being it has solved 90% of the storage problems.

2 years ago, Hutch was the largest service provider in bangalore/karnataka, however their customer service was very bad. Then Airtel started gaining popularity due to its good customer service. As a consequence Hutch lost its customer base in bangalore/karnataka to Airtel and now Airtel is the most popular largest network provider here, they value their customer above all and hence are most reliable and popular.





Moral: Customers first crave for Good and reliable service. If you are not providing good customer service you will end up like Hutch.





Likewise now Dish TV is having highest customer base, though their service is worst, as there were no other options before. but now Airtel DTH has come and it provides a good service. So I am afraid, Dish TV will end up like Hutch...if they dont consider the customer service seriously and take preventive actions....

DSI simply because the DS has better games to me, the PSP is filled with chopped down ports that where really designed to be played on the big screen, while with the DS most if its games actually feel as if they where developed for it, also 3rd parties have never really gave the PSP much notice as I said they just view it as a way to con people into re-buying PS2 games basically, but on a smaller screen and not as fun, multi media I couldn't care less about, all I care about is its games and with a new Zelda title coming this year, Dragon Quest 9 confirmed and a whole host of other RPG games, the game line up on DS/DSI continues to look promising, while PSP has pretty much been passed over by most 3rd parties.




I think it really comes down to your age and game preference








if your younger, then I think the ds will probably suit you more








the psp is more for the active older gamer

Don't Jailbreak your iPod. It's a big risk. You have a good chance of ruining it, like it will constantly freeze or apps will always crash when you try to open them. And when this does happen after you install Jailbreak, Apple won't help you with it because you void the warrenty when you install Jailbreak. So unless you have the extra $229 to buy a new iPod touch if the one you have now breaks, don't use Jailbreak. It's not a smart choice.

DVR question on recording..?

Have a new DVR and it won't record a movie from the AMC channel on cable. It says, "copy protected, cannot record". Either from a timer record or express. Is it the AMC channel who might have a block on this?...or my disc? I'm using the same discs I use to record Tv shows.



In my instruction book it says:


Copy restriction set by copyright owners, etc. These signals are included in some software or TV programs and restrict recording on this recorder"


Guess there's a block on your dvr.


This happened to me a long time ago so I just bought the dvd I wanted from amazon. Has nothing to do with HDTV.




This usually happens when you have an HDTV or using an HDMI cable. Usually the cable box has the software that does this, to prevent people from copying new movies that they can reproduce.

Cydia,QuikPwn (and other jailbreaks) have cause more problems for people than its worth.. (I never jailbreak but buy apps like Air sharing to enable limited disk use) as the only other extra is unapproved apps and background wallpapers (which are distracting).





NEVER JAILBREAK! It causes so many problems and yet adds nearly nothing! here is only 25% chance of sucess with 50% chance of killing it. and any attempt voids any warranty you have!





the 2.2 software from apple is stable and works well and lets you add hundreds of apps (many free) from the itunes App Store, many with features available in jailbroken items.





Jail breaking became redundant when the 2.0 software was released as it add almost nothing to the ipods abilities (other than the ability to browse its file structure which also makes it less secure).





Jail breaking also voids the warranty and does cause many issues form files vanishing, memory leaks and loss, rebooting and even failing to boot.





Jailbroken ipods cause so many problems (just search on here for them). It alters the boot code so its not really an ipod at all.




It means you free your system from working directly with apple, so u can add such things like games without adding any money to steve jobs(apple CEO) pocket :-)

In many cases the computer won't do anything. If you have windows use file explorer, to find the drive,. For example, your computer might show C: for your main drive then D: for the CD/DVD drive, E: and F: for other drives. Usually, the highest letter will be the SD Card Drive. (Mine is J:) Then you can copy the pictures to your hard drive.




check to see if your SD card reader shows up as a drive on your computer. If it doesn't then you need to fix your device driver for your reader.

To keep the phone on a charger even if the phone is not at its last dying bar warning you that it will die, I charge my phone every night. I sometimes have 3 bars, sometimes 2, sometimes none and a red warning light, Help me out!



Its ok to charge it anytime even if its not low. That was true for the old batteries but the new chargers and batteries are not like that. They will not keep charging when the charge is full and do not need to be fully drained and recharged like the old batteries.




Keeping your phone on the charger when it doesn't need to be will wear down the life of your battery. You can charge your phone no matter how dead it is or not but just keep in mind if the battery is full and it sits on the charger for hours it would have an effect on your battery. Also its good for the life of your battery if you let it completely die every now and again. . .




I've heard both, that it's a problem of the past, and newer don't have that problem, and I've heard that it still diminishes the life expectancy of the battery. I don't care. I charge my cellphone everyday, with one exception- my palm treo smartphone- that battery lasts me about a week, so I charge every other day. I'd rather have to change battery every year, (and so far that isn't happening) that being left without a cellphone.

Xbox Visuals not working?

My Xbox 360 is in fine working order (Except that we bought it used :P) I got it last Christmas, and it recently has been doing this:





The Xbox itself turns on and does it's thing. But when I unplug it from the wall, or a surge protector, and plug it into a different one it will turn on, like I said, but the TV will remain static.





Yes, The Av cables are plugged in properly.


Yes, everything plugged into the Xbox, including the Hard Drive is plugged in properly.


Yes, it's on the right channel.


Give me anything else to look for and I'll gladly look for it.



If you plug it back into the previously working plug, does the console work again?





If yes, then you have a faulty cabling in that other power plug.





It is possible that your console doesn't get enough power to function correctly




Sometimes things get screwy with the A/V cables so you could try plugging the yellow plug into all three seperatly and wait for video to pop up.





If that doesn't work you might have the HDTV slider switched to HD its on the connector that plugs into your Xbox.





If that doesn't work, go buy an another A/V cable or try another TV. If all those fail your outta luck. Your GPU (graphics processing unit) could be dead.




Sorry bad news, it's your GPU. You gotta get a new 360 or get it repaired. The same thing happend to my brother's. You can look on your local Craigslist (www.craigslist.com) there's usually people on there who can repair it for cheaper than usual. Thats where my brother found his repair man.

If you are at all interested in using it for listening to music or the games and applications, then I would suggest an iPod Touch over the iPhone. The iPhone is not well known for its battery power, and if you are constantly playing games then you will not have a phone when the battery dies and you are on the go. If you are ok with just having the phone capabilities, then the iPhone would be alright. I would suggest getting a basic cheaper phone and then an iPod touch in addition.

Detachable Hard Drive XBOX?

I need to send in my 360 for repair but I have to detach my hard drive. How would I do this?



Very Easy.





The HDD is on top of the Xbox, there is a small gray button on top of the Xbox where the drive is. Push it down and while holding it, gently pull the little hard drive out. its tricky sometimes but is not hard to do. It clips in and out.





Your Xbox is basically a rectangular prism (or box) except for the hard drive on top, it makes the Xbox have a lump on top. You will see the lump, thus being the hard drive, then the button is right at the bottom of the drive, facing the disk drive part of the Xbox, cant miss it.




On top of your Xbox is your hardrive. There's a button you press on it, and it comes right off.




unsnap it from the top of the console....just like you put it on.....

No. HD broadcasts have a 6 MHz bandwidth. Since a run of the mill coax cable can handle 1000 MHz , a common coax can transmit at least 150 channels of good quality HD.





As a practical matter, there are a lot fewer broadcast channels at any particular location.





The coax outputs of HD tuners only output 480i because of cost and copyright issues. It's not a limitation of the coax itself. It's likely that the "coax could only do 480i" story was started by people who didn't understand this.





As far as the antenna itself, it treats analog and digital broadcasts in an identical fashion. That's because the way that the signals are sent from the TV transmitting antenna to your personal TV antenna is identical. The difference between analog and digital is in how the picture information is encoded in the signal.




Coax can handle the encoded digital signal and send it to a digital tuner which then decodes it. It can't take a decoded signal because the bandwidth isn't high enough.

It depends on your computer and TV.





If your computer has DSUB/VGA out, you need:


* VGA/DSUB in on the TV


* a signal converter to convert dsub to component or HDMI





If your computer has HDMI/DVI out:


* the above two, if you use a DVI --> VGA adapter


* direct to HDMI/DVI





You can also use inferior technologies that limit the resolution to the TV. This isn't a problem if you don't have an HDTV, however.





S-Video and RCA will carry up to 800x600.





The most versatile option is the converter, but it's also the most expensive. unfortunately, it's required for older TVs that don't have HDMI or VGA.

Usually, you plug the antenna into the tv. And if the tv has an internal tuner, you run it's scan for over the air channels, instructions are in your owners manual. Then it will pick up all the OTA signals it can and the ones which are HD will be HD, the others will be SD.




You need to be tuned into a hi def channel, normally on satellite but there are a few on digital terrestrial.

All three of them are terrible. I've had the displeasure of completing them all for a student paper review.





It sounds like you like shooting things so, if you havent already, why not try some of these; Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Orange box (5 awesome fps games), Bioshock, any recent Call of Duty game, Far Cry 2, MGS 4, F.E.A.R., Resistance: Fall of Man.





All these games can be picked up pretty cheap and all of them are MUCH MUCH better than Haze, Fracture or Army of Poo. Also if you should become tempted to branch out into stabbing as opposed to shooting people Devil May Cry and Heavenly Sword are also excellent.





One last thing. If you for some reason cannot be persuaded out of spending cash on one of your choices, under no circumstances should you buy Haze. It is the most opposite of good and a classic example of Ubisoft rushing out a game for a quick buck.




Well, Haze is not very good as it is just a flying game, you cannot get out of the air. Army of Two is horrendous as it claims to be CODs rival, but it is truly awful, unfulfilled story and avearage online play. Fracturre is the best of the 3 as it gives you freedonm and it has a pretty good story mode. If i were you, i would get Fracture.




I don't know about the other 2, but Haze absolutely sucked. The graphics are OK, but the story sucked to the core. No sort of a plot, no explanation why you fight for one team and change to another... nothing. The voice acting was so horrible that I literally had to mute the TV and play the game. In fact I had more fun playing with the bots in the game rather than the campaign... lol.





Whatever you do, please don't buy Haze.




Haze is not a half bad game. If you like Halo then this is a good cheap rip off of it.

Are you asking why the "TrueHD" indicator light doesn't come on when you're playing a TrueHD soundtrack?





A receiver won't decode TrueHD unless the Blu-ray player sends the TrueHD soundtrack bitstream via an HDMI cable. So make sure your player isnt' doing the decoding. If so it will be sent to the receiver as uncompressed multi-channel PCM. If the display says "Multi-channel PCM" then that's probably what's taking place, so tell your player to send audio bitstream and the Sony will handle the decoding....





Unless you have a PS3. PS3s can't send HD audio bitstream. The decoding takes place in the PS3 and is sent out as MPCM, which is exactly what decoded HD audio is.




It depends on your player. The light on the receiver should only show TrueHD when [a] you're playing actual TrueHD material, and [b] the player is sending over as an untouched TrueHD bitstream.





So it depends on your Blu-Ray player. For example, I have a PS3. The PS3 will play TrueHD just dandy, but it does the decoding itself, and sends over an uncompressed 8-channel PCM bitstream to the receiver. In fact, it does that for every format, so you never get any of those feature lights on the receiver. But you don't need to worry about the formats your receiver accepts. That's why I have a STR-DG720... no use for TrueHD in the receiver if it's being handled by the player. It's all digital to digital.. the sound is identical, either way.

You have to make sure that it's in the right place. There should be an area on the island with red zones showing you exactly where everything goes to make the castle. If it's still not working, double check to make sure that everything's rotated the right way and that you didn't miss any red zones.

How can I fix my TI-84 graphing calculator keys from sticking?

I just recently bought a graphing calculator for class and it has been working fine. Out of nowhere in class it starts to stick. Like I would press a number and it wouldn't show I would have to hold it down for a few seconds for it to even show up. So I changed the batteries and it is still doing the same thing.



Have you spilled something on it recently? If so, I'd suggest cleaning it. Google should provide more information about that.





If not, then it could be a hardware issue. It would seem like the button interrupts are being delayed for some reason, possibly a malfunction. If this persists, then I'd recommend alerting Texas Instruments about this issue and possibly send in your calculator for repair.

What is a better cable company Charter or Direct TV?

I have Charter and they constantly have that "this channel is not available" BS because they are always playing around with it. And whenever it lightly rains your Direct TV freezes up. They both are kinda bad.




Had Direc Tv now Im with dish network they are cheaper and just as good as far a signal loss it takes a very heavy rain to interrupt my signal.
